Memorial Tribute – Alice Rozzell
Alice Kepner (Gram) Rozzell went to heaven for her tee time with her beloved late husband George Rozzell Jr. and grandson Bryan Langley on August 25, 2016. She was 90 years old. She leaves behind a large, devoted family who were the beneficiaries of her magnanimous love and wisdom. Survivors include her children, Margaret & Dave Eldridge, Susan and Harry Langley, George and Debbie Rozzell and Jeanie and Wayne Reed; grandchildren Lesli and Scott Langley, George (Mickey), Matt and Sara Rozzell, Annie Reed Adams and David Reed; and 11 fun and active great-grandchildren.
Gram was born in Fort Worth, Texas, August 27, 1926 to parents Sewall and Alice Kepner. She moved to North Little Rock at age 14, attending North Little Rock High School, where she played trumpet and French horn in the Band. An accomplished athlete, she lettered in tennis and basketball at College of the Ozarks while obtaining her Pharmacy degree. When working at Hunt Ritchie Drugs in North Little Rock she met her future husband George and opted for a new career as the devoted Mom of their growing family. She was a dedicated school, Girl scout, CARTI and March of Dimes volunteer. An avid sports fan, she never missed an opportunity to attend an Arkansas Razorbacks game. She and George became accomplished golfers and passed their love for the game on to several children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Golf vacations with friends were a great delight in their lives. In their retirement years they loved traveling the United States and Canada in the Motor Home, as well as boating on the Arkansas River in their houseboat The Miss Paula Jean. In spite of difficult physical limitations she was the catalyst for a multitude of happy family gatherings.
She was a member of Park Hill Christian Church in North Little Rock for over 60 years. Her last 3 1/2 years were spent under the loving care of the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Sherwood, who adopted her as family. The family is also grateful for the dedicated assistance of her HOME INSTEAD caregivers during her last weeks. She’ll always be remembered and loved by those whose lives were blessed to be touched by hers. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials to Park Hill Christian Church.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and funeral services were on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 am and were officiated by Rev. Miles Cook. All services were held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd. in North Little Rock.
