Memorial Tribute – Michael David Munns
Michael David Munns, 57, of Cabot, AR went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2011 after an accidental fall preparing for hunting season. He was born on November 30, 1953 to the late James Edgar and Mary Louise Munns in Little Rock and raised in North Little Rock.
He received a BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1976, his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1979 and passed the bar exam that same year. He was currently the Assistant Commissioner of Revenue, Operations and Administration for the State of Arkansas and previously worked as the Administrator for both the Offices of Motor Vehicle and Driver Services, and Legal Staff for the Department of Finance and Administration. He served as the President of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, Region II from 2008-09 and was on the Board of Directors from 2008-11.
His hobbies and passions included spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, snow and water skiing, and singing. He was loved for his great sense of humor, amazing leadership, and devotion to the Lord. He was an active member and past Chairman of the Board at Park Hill Christian Church, where he enjoyed serving as a church elder and singing in the choir.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Cathey Munns, of Cabot, AR; son Michael David Munns II and his wife Laura of Sherwood; son John and his wife Serena Munns and granddaughter, Hannah, of Fayetteville; brother Jim Munns and his wife Pat; two nephews, two nieces and countless friends. He was very excited and awaiting the arrival of two grandsons, Caleb and Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents James Edgar and Mary Louise Munns.
The funeral service was Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Hill Christian Church. Pallbearers were Wayne Warren, Mark McElrath, Scott Abernathy, Rich Norris, Bobby Goodwin, and Clint Norris.
