“God Has a Heart, Too” by Carolyn Meyer, Elder

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  1 John 4.7-8

I think about God all the time, and I see Him everywhere. When I sit on my back porch watching the birds, the clouds, and all the beauty around me, I marvel at all He created.

He made the mountains. He put the water in the oceans and created morning and night. God knew what He was doing when He made all these things.

It’s easy to be awestruck in God’s presence. God is sovereign, all-knowing, all-powerful, and greater than everything. He deserves our respect, but He longs for our love. When people don’t respect and love God, they don’t love each other, because God designed us to be love. He made love, He gave love. He lived love to show us how to live when He came to earth through Jesus, His son.

I think a lot of people figure that God made everything, but don’t give it much thought after that. It amazes me every day how such a wise God can love me so much. And He loves you. He knows your name, how many hairs are on your head, and He cares about every breath you take. God didn’t make everything so He could love it; He made everything because He is love. He may have the whole world in His hands. But He holds me and you in His heart. We think of February as the month of love, but God is love always.
